In January, we learned all about Arctic animals through fiction and non-fiction books. We also watched live videos about life in the Arctic. Each child created individual non-fiction books about walruses. The children constructed a diagram and designed their very own walrus, following step-by-step instructions. We culminated our study with a science experiment with "blubber". The children had to make a hypothesis and guess if their hands would stay warm while wearing a "blubber glove." They dipped both hands in "Arctic" water and observed the differences through their senses. The "blubber gloves" really worked!
